GENERAL INFORMATION



CAMP DATES: Monday, June 27th to Friday, August 19th, 2011
Camp Closed-Monday, July 4th

CAMP HOURS: Full Day – 9:25 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Mini Day – 9:25 a.m. to 1:20 p.m. (for 3&4 yr. olds only)
NOTE: Free Before and After Care is available until 6 pm each camp day. Please call the office for additional information.

OFFICE HOURS: 9:00am to 6:00pm
8:00am to 6:00pm (summer hours)

MEDICAL FORM: The medical form must be completed by your physician and returned to Camp by May 15th. A physician’s note is required for the return of your child after an absence due to contagious disease. If at any time during the summer your child’s activities must be restricted, please notify the office of the reason and length of time. We will try to modify your child’s program accordingly.

PERSONAL INFORMATION FORM: The Personal Information Form is to be filled out and returned to Camp by May 15th. If your child’s medical exam is scheduled after this date, please submit last year’s 2010-2011 school copy. All medical information is held in strict confidence and will enable us to better understand your child and meet his/her needs.

PARENT’S DAY: Parents are invited to bring their children’s clothing to camp and place it in cubbies on Saturday, June 18th from 10:00am to 3:00pm. A complimentary West Hills T-shirt and camp bag will be given to each camper at this time. NOTE: Parents of children entering N-K should plan to come on Saturday, June 18th between 10:00am and 12:00pm. The Pre-School Group Leaders will be at camp at that time to meet and greet the younger campers and their parents. Children attending camp the 2nd session are asked to bring their clothing with them, properly labeled on Monday, July 25th. LABEL ALL YOUR CHILD’S CLOTHING AND PERSONAL ARTICLES TO PREVENT LOSS.

CLOTHING/CUBBY ITEMS: A West Hills Day Camp shirt is not required except on picture day. Please have your child bring the following items to camp:
1. All campers should bring two bathing suits and one sweatshirt
2. A change of clothing, socks, and underwear for younger children (grades 1-3)
3. Recommended clothing for Pre-school: sunblock, water shoes, extra socks, shorts, t-shirt, sweatpants, sweatshirt, underwear, raincoat, two clean bathing suits, baby wipes.

Note: We use acrylic paints which will stain campers’ clothing. You may wish to send
in a smock. Please label all items with first and last name.

VALUABLES: Please encourage your child to leave all valuables at home (such as radios, ipods, watches, baseball gloves, electronic toys, etc.) THE CAMP IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY LOST OR MISSING ITEMS.

TRANSPORTATION: Information will be delivered to your mailbox before June 27th informing you of your child’s bus and bus counselor. Second session children will be notified by mail. Each child will be given an identification tag on the first day of camp by his/her bus driver or bus counselor. NOTE: All buses are driven by professional drivers. A West Hills staff member is a bus counselor. All buses, large and mini, are equipped with seat belts and have air conditioning. NOTE: West Hills is offering a transportation discount of $350 per child (bases on 8 weeks) for families who choose not to utilize our transportation.

VISITORS: Parents are invited to visit the Camp anytime between 10:00am and 3:00pm. You are required to check in at our welcome booth upon arrival and depart from the camp before 3:00. Once they have presented valid identification, all visitors will be issued ID tags to be worn during their visit. You must sign your child out if you take your child off the camp grounds. This must be done before 3:00pm.

LUNCH PROGRAM: You may pre-pay for our optional lunch program or you may send lunch for your child in a paper bag with name and group on it. We will refrigerate it upon arrival at camp and return it at lunch time with milk, fruit drink, or bottled water. Each afternoon a snack will be provided. Campers through 5th grade will also receive a morning snack. Each day we have a selection of sandwiches available for purchase. The cost is $5.00 for the sandwich and a dessert. If interested, please sign up for the lunch program by June 1st.

COOKOUT DAY: All groups N-7th have a complimentary barbeque once a week. Each lunch consists of a hot dog and a hamburger or 2 of each.

RAINY DAYS: As part of our program on a rainy day, children may be bused without prior notification to an off-camp facility (i.e. bowling alley, movie theatre, roller skating rink, etc.)

TIPPING: Tipping is always a personal matter which is at your discretion. A suggested guideline for distributing “tips” to those staff members who work with your child is available upon request at our camp office.
